When plastic products are subjected to high temperatures within a manufacturing process light-end petroleum based components of the material become volatile and create a fine smoke. Typically these light-end materials are plasticizer compounds.
Electrostatic precipitators such as the Smog-Hog or AQE MistBuster can be a good solution for capturing and filtering the plastic smoke generated by processes such as injection molding, plastic extruding, and other hi-temp processes where plasticizer additives are present in the product. The smoke is collected on the Smog-Hog washable components and in many cases will condense and drain from the unit during operation.
